Julian's second photo gives detail that enables me to age the individual as an adult bird of atleast 2 years (ie 2+) based on the pointed tip to allula. cheers Richard
I must have missed Owen by a whisker, having watched Philip's bird at 1300 for 20 minutes, then again at 1510 for 45 minutes. It is remarkably faithful to that Grevillea and the large deciduous tree, spending 98% of the time I was there in one or the other. The remainder of the time was mostly spent chasing other birds out of the Grevillea - a Spinebill, several Silvereyes and two White-naped Honeyeaters. I heard it only twice, a peep and a double chirrup is as well as I can describe them :( It's a champion subject, both times appearing within a few minutes of the start of my vigil at The Bush, and content to carry out a variety of bird activities in front of the observer - mostly preening, feeding and chasing. My short time there reinforced my view that I have a boring GBS site. I've never seen more than 19 species in a week at my place and I saw 16 in an hour at Philip's front gate, including Bowerbirds, Grey Shrike-thrush, 4 kinds of parrots, a raptor and the honeyeaters. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ozjulian/768994536/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/ozjulian/768995732/ Julian At 03:32 PM 10/07/2007, Owen Holton wrote: Philip's White-fronted Honeyeater was still there at 2.35pm today. As I reached the path it flew from 'the' grevillea to the large deciduous tree in Hiles Place where it stayed for the 15 minutes I was there. No calling during this time.
