I would concur with Michael's observations. On my last couple of visits to Kelly's Swamp (KS) have noted a large number of Black Ducks. On one occasion, a raptor flew over and put up what I took to be over 100 Black Ducks from the weeds. I was surprised because the most visible and vocal ducks were Grey Teal until this eruption of Black Ducks. Since then have looked for the Black Ducks more assiduously and found them quietly skulking among the weeds.

One question for longer time people in Canberra. What happens to this weed infestation? What is the succession plant-wise or pond-wise?

Cheers

Shaun
