Thanks everyone for your suggestions (positive and negative).

We ended up dipping on all 3 species.

Despite this, our focus wasn’t really that narrow, and we did see a lot of birds around the ACT.

Highlights included:

Lots of Flame Robins along Blundells Ck Rd

Plentiful Fuscous Honeyeaters at Orroral Campground

2 Wedge-tailed Eagles circling beside Campbell Park

3 Spotless Crakes in the outlet of Kelly Swamp

Musk Ducks at Yerrabi pond

Grey-crowned Babbler at RMC

Rainbow Lorikeets at Hawker

White-throated Needletails high above Dickson on stormy Thursday evening

No sign of any Brown Treecreepers at Newline – have these disappeared as well?

Cheers

Mat and Cath

Subject: [canberrabirds] RFI: 3 species

Cath and I (and new baby) will be in Canberra late next week and weekend, and wondered whether:

1)  any Koels were still lurking around in the Canberra suburbs?

2) are Superb Parrots still a chance in Belconnen/Cook (perhaps late Feb is pushing it)

3) I’m almost to scared to ask, but I will anyway…  has anyone apart from Yarden had any ST Dove sightings recently?

If so, can anyone offer us suggestions as to well-defined locations we can start looking for these species?

Thanks

Cheers

Mat
