Spotted turtle doves not sighted but heard cooing contentedly from our front yard palm tree for the past 2 mornings - right alongside the newly hatched Common Mynahs.

On a brighter note last week down the coast while paddling the Bumbo River we had no less than 20 sightings of Azure Kingfishers, 14 on our outward journey and 6 on the return.  We usually see one or two when paddling this stretch, and whilst there was almost certainly some doubling up it would seem there is a thriving population of these little gems here. Also sighted a pair of Sacred Kingfishers, plus good close up views of 2 adult and one juvenile Sea Eagles in close proximity with 4 Whistling Kites.  Arrival of a power boat, even though it was moving slowly, dispersed the birds.

Cheers
