I would add that anti-spam filtering can of course cause non-receipt of non-spam messages. I am aware of some subscribers who miss a few canberrabirds messages regularly - sometimes (not deliberately) all those from a particular sender (Bill Specialoffer, for example, who few will know lost a finger while hand-feeding a Yellow-tailed BlackCockatoo in his Kambah back-yard and for whom merely typing an immediate report of the incident was a considerable ordeal). Those who subscribe through a work network might have no control over this. For those on their own computers it might depend on filter settings or customising - eg whether canberrabirds is a non-filtered sender. I do not believe I miss any messages from this group, but I sometimes get long delays in receipt, sometime several hours after others have received them and replied - or, worse, the bird has flown.
