While the profusely flowering Apple Box tree adjacent to the reservoir
is the obvious target for Swift Parrot spotters, I saw precisely zero
Swifties in it on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
On Saturday afternoon, the drainage gully was full of Pied Currawongs,
and there was no sign of the Swifties in the area.
On Sunday, there was no sign of bathing currawongs, and the Swifties
were plentiful in the eucalypts between the reservoir and the houses,
south of the gully. I assume they were feeding on lerps, because
I couldn't see any sign of flowering in the tree full of SPs I was
looking at. Their occasional calls were reminiscent of the Brown
Treecreeper "plink! plink! plink!" call.
