I can only say that I agree.
Birding-Aus the mailing list is good (IMHO), as it archives, meaning
that you can find a post from ages ago using a search, and while the
archive search may not be terribly useful, it's viewable by Google so
you can use that instead - and it works. As others have pointed out,
finding a post on the Facebook site from last month, let along five
years ago is near impossible. Photos also work - patchily - on the
mailing list, depending on your operating system, although sound files
I think that the main disadvantage about the mailing list is that it
isn't Facebook, which is what people use.
