Sun 7 Jul Diamond Dove, Topknot Pigeon, Pied Currawong Townsville Town Common Conservation Park
Warm with early cloud clearing. 12 Observers Diamond Dove (1) (also reported earlier today by Len Ezzy). Topknot Pigeon two flocks - 6 and 15 flying over. Pied Currawong (2)

Diamond Dove Townsville Town Common Conservation Park
Diamond Dove (1) Return Walk from Jacana hide, flew in to dead shrub on the south side of walk about 200 metres from the car park. Uncommon on the Town Common. Photographed. The Full LIst is of birds that I saw on the Birdlife Townsville club outing, Townsville Town Common walk. Started out partly cloudy and unusually hot and humid, clearing later in the morning. Male Pacific Golden Plover in breeding plumage at edge of main lagoon crossing (Narrowbones) this morning. First migratory shore bird of the season for the site. Distant picture

Seen flying along the boundary of the village at tree top level at 10 am.

Sun 30 Jun Australasian Shoveler, Freckled Duck Mungalla Station (Forrest Beach, Queensland)
Morning survey of Mungulla Station with Birdlife Townsville. Note - this is a private property access through owner's permission only. Wetlands still extensive but drying around edges. Huge numbers of waterbirds present. Australasian Shoveler (2) two males seen well with scope, feeding and swimming, near Freckled Duck in main lagoon, orange legs, massive bill; Freckled Duck (6) at least 6 but probably more.
