Hi Nikolas,
Simon's animal is clearly Eastern Grey Kangaroo in my opinion.
Remember that EGK females are about half the weight of males and can appear
almost wallaby like (even when they have a joey!)
Suggested alternatives can be ruled out I suggest because:
Agile Wallaby always has distinct facial markings and almost always has a
sandy/orangish tone to it's fur...pinkish internal ears and so on.
Common Wallaroo always seems to have a spectacled look with pale crescent
around the eyes...this is always very obvious in my opinion; the fur is
thicker; they are extremely unlikely to graze on a lawn (most habit rocky
areas); are a generally shy so unlikely to pose like Simon's animal. They
also have an almost squarish jaw line I reckon. Despite being highly
variable in colour, I don't remember ever seeing an almost totally grey one.
Rock wallabies...well they look nothing like that...the only possible
candidate is Unadorned which has a dark tail, obvious facial markings and so
on.
Anyway, it looks like an EGK to me...happy to be corrected though.
Cheers,
Bill
