Shirley's experience sounds a bit like my first trip to Phillip Island
in the early 90s - as the Fairy Penguins came out of the surf, the
lady next to me said to her companion "they're only the babies". She
was somewhat disappointed when I pointed out that was as big as they
were going to get.

Thanks for the memory jog, Stephen, several years ago watching the
feeding of the dolphins at Monkey Mia, I was distracted by the
conversation between father and son. The wardens were feeding pelicans
and cormorants separately to keep them away from the dolphins. Daddy
explained to sonny that the little one (cormorant) was the big one's
baby.
