Thanks to Michael, Greg and Alan for their replies to my above query.

The Kingfishers are both making the staccato call but at a different pitch.  
The Boobooks are busy calling again last night and tonight and the Kingfishers 
all day.  Its quite exciting to think we could end up with some nesting 
somewhere in the area and I guess life will go on!
