Hi all,
Just back on Day release from the hospital where I was confined for a week
after a week's excruciating pain from my lower back.
I did see the article in the Australian about the recovery of the night
parrot corpse, and noted the statement that the species had suffered a
"catastrophic" decline in the nineteenth century. As far as I am aware there
is no evidence to support this statament. All we know is that the guy who
collected all known specimens in museums in South Australia left no notes on
how or why he was able to collect so many birds. Asa far as I know, they
knew as little about this species in the nineteenth century as we did in the
twentieth & to the present day!
