Unfortunately, the reality is that most of us can't afford to make such
a purchase, or even to make a meaningful contribution to such a
purchase.

Some people in Australia do have the sums available to make a
significant difference, such as Kerry Packer and those of similar
standing.  I wouldn't exactly call Mr Packer an eco-philanthropist
though.  It would be nice to think that this person would be open to
suggestions that he make such a purchase, and also set up a trust to
fund the management of the property, but somehow I think this would not
be high on his list of priorities.
