Magpie Geese were also present at southern Lake Wyangan in 1992 and 1993. I
know at least three birds were present and Bruce Gray and I paddled kayaks
on the lake to see if we could find evidence of breeding (they were roosting
at least in the reeds on the lake and feeding on a nearby dairy farm
Never had any luck and not certain where they came from (I would have
thought north, but Victoria just as possible).
Cheers,
Peter

Waterview Heights is just outside Grafton and the Coldstream wetlands more
or less south-east of Ulmarra, both in the Clarence Valley, Northern
Rivers NSW.
You may be heartened to hear that Alan Morris, in his list of Magpie Goose
breeding records he provided me, included a trio with 7 young on the
Wargan Creek Drainage Ponds at Griffith on 13 September 1989. Not Victoria
but not that far away as the goose flies.
