Thanks for the input on this 5.00 AM event. Following from these suggestions--
- Paul Walbridge: Pied Butcherbirds
- Tom Tarrant: ditto
- Ros: Grey Butcherbird
 - Syd Curtis: a vote for butcherbirds, thoughts on dawn choruses, &
suggestion that I tape this call
- Helen Horton: offer of wave file - YES, PLEASE!
--each time I go out I'm looking at what the population of
butcherbirds is in this suburb. So far, I see mainly the Grey. Pizzey
does give descriptions of beautiful song for both the Grey and the
Pied. Also he notes that the Pied sing 'two/three birds alternately'.
The song is SO strong and melodious that if it were Noisy Miners they
would almost be redeemed! I'll keep looking, and hope one morning to
rise before the sun and SEE the bird/s. Will advise, if so.
Thanks,
--
