Hi Judith,

When I was on a BOCA campout at Macquarie Marshes in about 1996, I heard
this very early repetitious call in the half light at about 4:30 am each
morning. It drove me made trying to ID it until the last morning I got up
and found it to be a Pied Butcherbird. They do sing in groups of three and
it is a very special occasion when you see the 3 together singing as each
sings their own specific part in the melody bopping up and down as they do
it.

When I lived at Swanbank near Ipswich Qld. in 1988, the pieds used to sing
each morning on the top of the powerpole near the house. To see it
happening is one of my most treasured memories and an event well worth
witnessing.
