Yes, the world is changing.  We are moving to an environment where our 
e-devices from phones to cars get software updates to upgrades on a regular 
basis.  Bird taxonomy seems to be updated as frequently as iOS, so hard copy 
encyclopaedic books will get thinner on the “bookshelves” as we move further 
into 21C.
