Hi All,
The Macquarie River is also at minor flood levels with continued rain. While
this is beneficial for the Macquarie Marshes and the downstream environments of
the Barwon/Darling River, it is not-so-good for infrastructure, and access for
local residents or visiting birdos. Please be careful with any travel plans
that stray from the bitumen.
Cheers Tim

Great thread, folks. I'm going to be in West Wyalong next weekend (yes, I know
it's Grand Final weekend...). Given the amount of water around in that
landscape, can anyone recommend somewhere interesting that I actually can go
birding within a couple of hours of the town?

Should be good birding along th Lachlan coming up.. Gee, it takes a lot of
water to get Lake Cowal running. Only seen it once, in the mid-late 90s. It was
over the Highway, then, and even Coaches were tip-toeing yhrough it. An
incredible amount of water. There will be a lot of swamps formed along the
course, by the time the head of the flow reaches Balranald.
