One odd thing I noticed in one of the articles was about the amount of hair in
the scats. It said there was a lot of hair, and that that's normally associated
with captive foxes.

Are they suggesting someone is keeping captive foxes somewhere in Tasmania so
they have access to fresh scats? If that's the case then whoever is responsible
should be found and prosecuted for risking the animal or animals escaping.

If it's not the case then where did the scats come from? If they came from the
mainland then why get them from captive animals? There are any number of scats
from wild foxes in any urban parkland.
