Greg Roberts

Fri 25 Jul Rufous Fieldwren Bundegi Beach Exmouth
Bird as photographed was much lighter in colour than expected. Another was
photographed at New Beach south of Carnarvon this morning and was a much
stronger rufous colour - probably in keeping with its different habitat
Jean & Paul Newman

Wed 23 Jul Redthroat Bullara Station
Stumbled across Redthroats while seeking other species. Male and female
highly agitated at my presence, seemingly without cause - until I realised
I was standing within a metre of their nest
Paul Newman

Black Honeyeater Great Northern Highway nr Exmouth turnoff
Males, females and Juv. Feeding in roadside grevilleas
Paul Newman

Tue 22 Jul Pied Honeyeater Bullara Station
Species in considerable numbers adjacent to walking trails. Good bush birds
in general at this site.
Paul Newman

Sun 20 Jul Rufous-crowned Emu- wren Cane River Conservation Park
Camped south of the deserted homestead in the sandy bed of the Cane River
with the intention of seeking this bird. Found several hundred metres south
on the access track. Sighting was a surprise because the surrounding
spinifex was small and sparse. Other birders travelling to this site should
be cautious of the trail to the south as shown on maps; the exit to the
west has grown over
Paul Newman

Sat 19 Jul Spinifexbird Pannawonica Road
Found on the Pannawonica Roadside approx 3km east of the highway
intersection. Bird disturbed and responded well to pishing. As a lifer I
found it to much more striking than illustrated in bird guides and its
barred undertail was a pleasant surprise
Paul Newman
