Birdline Northern Territory

Fri 25 Jul Gouldian Finch Marrakai Track, Arnhem Highway.
We spotted a flock of 150+ Gouldian Finches along the Marrakai track, about
14kms south of the Arnhem Highway. It appeared that around 10% were in
adult plumage. Also Black Breasted Buzzard, Black Tailed Treecreeper, Tawny
Frogmouth and Jabiru.

  Hooded Parrot. Edith Falls Road
We saw about 25 Hooded Parrots, and at least 25 Gouldian Finches at the
reported river crossing site about 5kms down the Edith Falls Rd, in the
Katherine area. Also Masked, Long Tailed, Doubled Barred and Crimson
Finches etc. There were also at least 40 hooded Parrots around the Pine
Creek Township.

Wed 23 Jul White Throated Grasswren Jim Jim Falls Area
2 Grasswrens were seen well,( but unfortunately not photographed) in the
Jim Jim Falls area, Kakadu NP. Thanks to Tim F. for all his help and
advice. I whole-heartedly agree with Tim and Scott that it is an extremely
hard area to get in to, and that if you intend to try for the bird you
should be both physically and mentally prepared for an extremely tough
adventure!
Ian Davies, Tim Mckellar and John Newman.

Mon 21 Jul Rufous Owl Howard Springs Nature Reserve
With Biggles` help we spotted a pair of Rufous Owls as they were being
mobbed by Spangled Drongos. Also in the area were Rainbow Pitta, and the
other usual suspects.
Ian Davies, Tim Mckellar and John Newman.
