The family has decided that they want to visit North Narrabeen Beach today, and
not being one to waste half a day sitting on the beach (particularly when 25
degrees) I thought I would have a look at a couple of the local birding spots.
However, despite living in Sydney for 10 years I haven't actually been to
Narrabeen before (living in the Shire I found it difficult to cross the Georges
River to go to work in Hurstville) so I need some directions.Particularly keen
to see some waders so was thinking Long Reef first - where is the easiest
access? Looking at Google Maps it may be on the north side via the Golf Club
but not certain about the public access there. Any tips on this one
appreciated. If I have time I also might try Deep Creek Reserve north of the
lake. It looks like access is from the Wakehurst Parkway and I assume you can
turn in from either direction - any recommendations on walks to get a good mix
of birds would be appreciated.Any tips on these or other close locations in the
next couple of hours would be greatly appreciated.Cheers,Peter
