Australian Raven
Alice Springs Desert Park
Australian Raven (2) nesting, photograph taken drinking, beard obvious, large massive bill, wings and tail feathers same length when folded.
perplexus
[Moderator's note: not sure this is conclusive. Other corvids can exhibit throat hackles, Torresian Crow has a large bill also. Would be interested to hear about the colour of the down at the base of neck feathers if observed. If this is a good ID, it would require the entire staff of Alice Springs Desert Park, including several avid birders, to have missed a nesting pair of birds which are extremely rare in this region. Well spotted Dez! CW]
