Sun 6 Oct Beach Stone-curlew Kewarra Beach 1' Cell
Beach Stone-curlew (1) Whilst swimming at Kewarra Beach; curlew flew from Taylor Point direction, past me and landed near the southern end of Clifton Beach.

Wed 2 Oct Blue Faced Finch Jullaten
One adult female, one juvenile. Eight hours searching!

Australian Little Bittern Tyto Wetlands, Ingham
Two Australian Little Bittern in Tyto this morn. Males. First feeding near hide, quick flight 4metres into scleria; second 70metres away seen briefly from lookout (several recent sightings same general area). 99.9% sure of two birds, not one bird seen twice. Picture: not today but typical recent sighting from lookout.

Tue 1 Oct Barking Owl Townsville Town Common Conservation Park
Single bird seen high in a tree about 40 metres in from the road on the right about 200 metres past the Payet's Observation Deck car park.

Mon 30 Sep Swinhoe's Snipe, Baillon's Crake, Mount Isa Sewage Ponds
Both species seen at small wetland outside the south-easten corner of Sewage Treatment Plant. Second record of Swinhoe's Snipe from Mount Isa region this year--watched in the open for some minutes before it moved into grass--percieved slighly shorter tail than Latham's, and locality basis for identification.

Sat 28 Sep Noisy Pitta, Cicadabird Magnetic Island
Two-day survey around Horseshoe Bay, Nelly Bay, Picnic Bay and Gustav creek on Magnetic Island as part of a university student fieldtrip. Noisy Pitta (1) Gustav Creek Cicadabird (1) Vine thickets near horseshoe bay Channel-billed Cuckoos and Pied Imperial Pigeons are quite common on the island as well.
