Birdline Northern Territory

Published sightings for the week ending 11 Aug 2013.

Wed 7 Aug Yellow-billed Spoonbill Gorge Road (Giles Rd) Katherine to Nitmiluk
Survey of Gorge Road mainly close to the hayfields and the dam close to the old plane. Good weather conditions. Yellow-billed Spoonbill (1) in with group of Royal Spoonbills.

Mon 5 Aug Rufous Owl Howard Springs
Rufous Owl (1) First heard calling from carpark towards creek. After calling back to it for five or so minutes, flew into trees above carpark for fantastic views. Seemed rather tame and was still present when I left.

Mon 5 Aug Painted Finch Alice Springs Desert Park
3 wild birds drinking from the waterhole in the Desert Rivers habitat at midday.

Gouldian Finch Policemans Point, Timber Creek
Seen at turn off , 80+ Gouldian. Majority were immatures but 6+ black and 2 red face seen. Also 25 Budgerigar, Masked Finch, Diamond Dove, Masked Wood swallow
