Colin et al,
Golden Bowerbirds are active at their bowers already but in the cool wet
weather we've been having they are not very active. Once the sun comes out
they'll be hard at it again. Anyone going to t Hypipamee in the next month
and a half should examine the laurels around the picnic area as they are
ripening and will bring in all four local species of bowerbird to the fruit.
The bower I gave directions to a couple of years ago has had a change of
ownership. I cannot say much about his personality yet as I have not spent
much time there but I doubt he is as obliging as the last bird was. I have
other bowers too including the male with which I have a special relationship
but I hope everyone understands that I am not disclosing all of those bowers
and I request my guests also not to publicise their locations.
In case the child care manager, with whom I had a lengthy discussion about
sharing professional skills and knowledge, is still on Birding-Aus, please
contact me again as I have German relatives heading your way next month and
free babysitting would be a wonderful addition to their holiday.
Regards,
Alan
