Pied Heron, Purple Swamphen, Latham's Snipe
Townsville Town Common Conservation Park
sunny, warm, breeze after 8.30, species list OK but bird numbers generally low.
Pied Heron (1) fly-past at elevated hide 7.00, heading towards RAAF Base
Purple Swamphen (1) on and from (new) dam wall track
Latham's Snipe (1) from (new) dam wall track.
All uncommon here.

A single bird flushed several times in mangroves as we ventured up the creek. Unusual habitat and unusual to see this species here, but one or two seem to turn up each wet season.

Malanda Atherton Road
6.3 kilometres form Malanda by the rural numbering system.
The bird has been using the wires opposite some Hoop Pines for at least a week now.

12 Orange Chats at Clearwater Lagoon before the dam proper.

Carpentarian Grasswren
Macnamara Road, Mount Isa
(Location about 60km NW of Mount Isa) 2x Carpentarian Grasswrens seen about 400 metres in on the east side of Macnamara Road about 6.5kms north of Barkly Highway Recorded in book at Cairn. Very little else about. Whilst some country burnt, some recent rains has the place looking fantastic.
