Birdline Northern Territory

Published sightings for the week ending 17 Mar 2013.

Thu 14 Mar Barn Swallow Leanyer/Sanderson Sewage works
Barn Swallow (1) North Eastern end of sewage farm, feeding with Woodswallows, Tree Martins etc. over Mangroves/ sewage ponds. Also Hoary Headed Grebe still present.

Wed 13 Mar Bush-hen Humbles Creek
Sitting down watching finches when one sauntered out about a meter away, not sure who got a bigger shock. It fled back into the scrub where it went through its full suite of calls. Flushed when I stood up. Another seen on the 14th crossing the Victoria Highway 70km east of Timber Creek.

Tue 5 Mar Cinnamon Quail-thrush Maryvale
Stayed at Maryvale (Titjikala) over a period of two working weeks. All birds seen within 10 kms of Community. Cinnamon Quail-thrush (11) saw three groups on the one day on the road to Chambers Pillar, saw another group (not counted, possibly the same as the other 11) on a previous day

Large-tailed Nightjar Buffalo Creek/Darwin
Hawking around the lights at the boat ramp. Landed in the tree nearby for good views.
