Sun 17 Feb Metallic Starling Townsville Town Common Conservation Park
Metallic Starling (1) (Immature) Returning to perch in the tops of dead trees near the Fig Tree causeway. It was being occasionally harrassed by a White-bellied Cuckoo-shrike. Uncommon here.

Sun 17 Feb Zitting Cisticola Morris Creek Road, Giru. (About 150m before the boat ramp)
Two birds seen. ID was assisted by the call. Photo attached is of a Zitting Cisticola taken in the same spot a week or so ago.

Sat 16 Feb Eastern Barn Owl Townsville Port Access Rd - North of the Bruce Hwy (Heading towards the port)
Four Eastern Barn Owls seen between 8.40pm and 9.15pm; two flying and two perched on posts. All birds seen within 1.5k of the turn off the Bruce Hwy.

Thu 14 Feb Pink-eared Duck, Yellow-billed Spoonbill, Black-tailed Native-hen, Red-backed Kingfisher, Budgerigar Old Flinders Hwy, Woodstock to Ross River Dam
Black-tailed Native-hen (1) This was the same bird reported previously, as evident by the lack of white flank spots. Seen at the concrete causeway on Gunnado Road. Pink-eared Duck (2) Yellow-billed Spoonbill (1) Red-backed Kingfisher. Single Budgerigar, feeding with 4 Black-throated Finches.

Pink-eared Duck (2) they have been around for most of the day.

Budgerigar (4) feeding on side of road, flew up into tree just near the elevated bird hide (tower hide) car park; photo. White-browed Crake (2) at the first wildlife viewing point, calling and flying and feeding along exposed edge of semi-submerged grass

Sun 10 Feb Pink-eared Duck Wonga Beach Barramundi farm
One adult bird, first record I know of for this site, spreading further the recent influx to the region. Also three Red-kneed Dotterels, not seen here previously.

Sat 9 Feb Red-kneed Dotterel West of Cooktown Crossing on Mitchell River
Single adult feeding in borrow pit. Moderator's Note: - Cooktown Crossing on the MItchell River is geographically about 26km WSW of the Town of Mount Carbine.

Single bird (Female), feeding in small borrow pit at roadside, near Cooktown Crossing. Moderator's Note: - Cooktown Crossing on the MItchell River is geographically about 26km WSW of the Town of Mount Carbine.

Wed 30 Jan Red-necked Stint Cairns Esplanade
Unidentified "yellow-legged" Red-necked Stints - 4 Stints with some yellow on the legs, 1 bird with all yellow legs but dark feet; among dozens of Red-necked Stints for comparison. Studied by several members of the 4 O'clock Club (members of Cairns Birds who meet on the Esplanade every day at 4 o'clock). Moderator's Note: - Any ideas or assistance with Identification would be most welcome.
