As a consequence of surfing the internet earlier today to learn more about
gull hybridisation, I learnt of the existence of the following book:
McCarthy, E.M. (2006). Handbook of Avian Hybrids of the World. 608 pp.
(Oxford University Press, New York).
Sample pages of the book are available for viewing on Google books. Each
record of a hybrid in the book is referenced to the original source of
information, which is extremely useful. I don't know how up-to-date or
comprehensive the book is (presumably there have been records of new
hybridisations since its publication), but there are over 5,000 references
cited in the book. Anyway, I thought that some of you, especially
twitchers, may also be interested in this book.
Kind regards,
Stephen
