Birdline Tasmania

Published sightings for the week ending 6 Jan 2013.

Sun 6 Jan Baillon's Crake Goulds Lagoon, Granton
Baillon's Crake (2) One adult observed from the hide. Second bird seen at the northern end of the eastern part of the lagoon. Bumped into Rodger Willows just before we sighted this bird and it exhibited the same posture he reported previously on Birdline, whereby the bird holds its tail horizontal and does not flick it at all (that we saw).
Paul Brooks

Fri 4 Jan Baillon's Crake Goulds Lagoon
Re-sighted definite Baillon's Crake (@ 0800), North-eastern end of smaller eastern lagoon adjacent to the railway line near Eucalypt (as previously reported on 23rd). Persists in keeping tail horizontal
Rodger Willows

Wed 2 Jan Baillon's Crake, Australian Spotted Crake, Latham's Snipe Goulds Lagoon, Granton
Baillon's Crake (1) Seen at the same time as an Australian Spotted Crake from the hide, noting its smaller size and striped tail - photographed towards last light with no perfect image.
Rob Hamilton
