Hi Carl and B-A,
Here at NSW OEH we are intending to trial high-end UAVs in the near future to
count, detect and photograph/video waterbird colonies in inland NSW wetland
systems. We're always trying to find new ways to reduce monitoring impacts on
the colonies - they are highly sensitive to visitation by people.
One significant problem with using high-end gear is that if the AUV fails while
over a (seriously large and rather impenetrable) wetland they are likely to be
quite difficult to recover.
Cheers Tim

Dear B-A,
Has anyone on the list had any experience using camera equipped quadricopter
style drones for birding? They seem to have the potential to be a useful tool
for observing waders and the like.
I would be interested in hearing of anyones experiences.
Cheers,
Carl Clifford
