Sun 1 Jul Rose Robin Yellingbo Nature Conservation Reserve
Fantastic views of a male Rose Robin, within 5m, on fence, then twice more as we walked along the path between Woori Yallock Cr. and farm land this morning. Day started with 2 Crested Shrike-tit and also a female Scarlet Robin.

Pink Robin Edwards Point State Faunal Reserve
A single Pink Robin was spotted In the bushes next to the start of the boardwalk. A solitary Ruddy Turnstone was at the point with a Double-banded Plover in among the Red-capped Plovers.

Sat 30 Jun Shy Albatross, Black-browed Albatross Viewed from "The Bluff", Barwon Heads
At least 60 Shy and Black-browed feeding around fishing boats and adjoining waters. An unusually high number for recent times.

Thu 28 Jun Cape Barren Goose Clyde North
This previously reported single bird, that I have now seen 3 times was still present on thurs. feeding by a small pond with Purple Swamphens etc, Cnr Linsell Blvd and Berwick -Cranbourne Rd.(opposite Hardy's Road ) This small area will probably soon be gone due to "development ".

Brush Bronzewing Marlo aerodrome
At the Marlo aerodrome this morning, a pair of Brush Bronzewing were observed quietly feeding along the gravel verge of the access road. (Moderators note: although this area would seem suitable for this species this is the first (at least reported) record for Marlo. The nearest Birdlife Australia atlas records are 20km away at Cape Conran).

Circling above West Gate bridge then moving to Spotswood (Moderators note: not often seen in the inner city).

Wed 27 Jun Pink Robin, White-eared Honeyeater Seaford Swamp
Both these species were only the second record each for this site. Also 3 Brown Quail were seen. Never previously recorded here, this is now the third record in the past 12 months.

Hooded Plover St Andrews Beach and Portsea Beach
I found a group of 5 Hooded Plover together this morning at St Andrews Beach (east of Rye) and another 2 birds about 150m to the west of them. And another 2 birds at Portsea Beach almost directly in front of the surf lifesavers clubrooms.

2 individuals calling around midnight last night near the edge of Canadian State Forest.

Barn Owl (probable) Truganina Swamp
Tyto sp Owl (Presumably Barn Owl) seen Monday night perched on a fence post just over the small bridge behind the main pool at the rear of Port Phillip Retirement Village. No torch unfortunately!

Eastern Curlew, Freckled Duck, Broad-billed Sandpiper Western Treatment Plant, Werribee
A lone but very vocal Eastern Curlew was seen flying east along the coast today off Little River mouth, whilst down on the old Freckled Duck rock in the first lagoon through Gate 4 were five male Freckled Duck with varying shades of red on the bills, suggesting they may be recent post-breeding arrivals. Presumably the same Broad-billed Sandpiper as reported by John Barkla was out on mudflats at North Spit in the afternoon, feeding with several Red-necked Stint.

2 Spotted Harrier gliding at the corner of the M1 and point Wilson Road. They were also with 2 Whistling Kites.

We saw four mature brolgas from the car in a large ephemeral wetland . Near the former school.

At least two birds seen walking around carpark among Cape Barren Geese and Purple Swamphen.
