Published sightings for the week ending 8 Jan 2012.

Sat 7 Jan Nankeen Night Heron, Royal Spoonbill Tamar Island Wetlands
Nankeen Night Heron (6) In the lakes closest to the west Tamar Highway. Photos taken for confirmation, available on request. These have been recorded at the information centre by other visitors in the recent past. Royal Spoonbill (4) In the lakes closest to the West Tamar Highway. Photos taken for confirmation

Mon 2 Jan Striated Fieldwren Crabtree
Two sightings. The first on the road between Lucaston and Crabtree. The second sighting was a longer observation near the cattle yards opposite Swannie Road as you near Crabtree on the road from Grove. With both sightings the birds were on fences in areas where there was long grass in the paddocks.

Thu 29 Dec Latham's Snipe Tamar Wetlands - Launceston
Seen just at the very beginning of the boardwalk off to the left hand side. I also saw a Black Fronted Dotterel in the same location the previous day.

Wed 28 Dec Hooded plovers South coast track
several birds seen on beaches of south coast track during my recent christmas - new year adventure. Details: 3 on cox bight north beach 2 on Cox bight south beach 4 on Prion Beach ( but didnt look on the big spit area) 3 on surprise bay beach

Tue 27 Dec Ground Parrot Melaleuca
4 individuals flushed whilst walking between Melaleuca and Coxs Bight. Also one individual flushed on buttongrass plain between Osmiridium Beach and Suprise Bay.

4 individuals seen on feeder, Wardens are observing 22 individuals in the area this year.
