Hoopoe - Carbon emissions

I must confess to being very sceptical about all these carbon offsets -
seems they are basically promising (for some unknown period) not to cut
down a tree which otherwise they may or may not have cut down? How many
times does the same tree get not cut down?

And of course as others have stated - the marginal impact of one extra
passenger on a flight is very small - would be interesting to see how they
calculate the impact per person and what load factor they assume

I must add that I am NOT a climate change sceptic - just do not believe in
many of the "solutions"
