Black-chinned Honeyeater
Kirwan, Golflinks Drive southern end.
I have been hearing the call for a few weeks now, but it has been too dark to see the birds. Today I followed the call to a Callistemon in the street and saw the bird. Unusual in the urban area, but this is the second year running they have been in this part of Townsville.

Spotted Whistling Ducks
Wonga Beach
still present today, photo attached.
Moderators Note:
The birds were present in the lagoon, after John saw them, standing in the shade of an overhang on the edge. Approach the small lagoon slowly so as not too cause too much disturbance. The block of land they are on has a for sale sign at the front.

Spotted Whistling Duck
Wonga Beach
A group of 13 Spotted Whistling Ducks in a small pond off Snapper Island Drive, Wonga Beach. At first all were perching in a Terminalia overhanging the pond, close to and visible from the road, later in the pond. This is the most southerly record for this recently invading species. Please note the pond is on private land, two properties back from the end of Snapper Island Drive (a dead end).
