the image was taken in an area that has lot of native flora - unfortunately the image is not very clear as the bird was high in a tree and covered in shadow.
have been in the area for 4 year and thisis the first topknot have see.

1 bird around lake area,being mobbed by 30 Crows! Also at least 4 Brown Goshawks with 3 seen in the air at once

Nankeen Night-Heron
Dowse Lagoon, Sandgate
A good afternoon with a juvenile Night-Heron well out in the open in front of the hide, one further juvenile and an adult as well. Also Glossy Ibis, lots of Egrets, Jacana and my first Leaden Flycatcher for this site.

Powerful Owl
Fig Tree Pocket Equestrian Centre
I got an excited call from my brother reporting an adult bird in the eucalypt forested area behind the equestrian centre where the horse floats are parked. There is some floodlighting in this area after dark and he had good, well-lit views of the bird sitting on an exposed branch. He's not a complete birdo (yet) but he knows his birds and his description was spot on - the bright yellow eyes and the huge size mean his ID is most likely spot on. I'd be interested to know if these are uncommon in the Brisbane area. Cheers.

Sooty Owl and Marbled Frogmouth
Manorina Picnic Area - D'Aguilar NP
The fledgling Sooty Owl is now mobile, being seen close to the clearing at Manorina Picnic Area. A suspected Sooty Owl was also seen flying high overhead at the track on the north side of the road 6km past Maiala, along with a Marbled Frogmouth. Another frogmouth was heard from Brown's Rd, along with Australian Owlet-Nightjar.

Grey Falcon, Grey-headed Honeyeater
Bowra Station
The pair of Grey Falcons were seen near the old nest tree on the entrance road to Bowra Station. Grey-headed and White-fronted Honeyeaters were seen near the dam on the far side of the western paddock circuit. Over four days at Bowra most of the specialties were also seen including Chestnut-breasted Quail-Thrush, Bourke's Parrot, White-browed Treecreeper and Redthroat. Other good birds included Crimson Chat (western paddock), Painted Honeyeater, Plum-headed Finch (southern part of property) and Black-eared Cuckoo (tip).
