Fri 25 Feb Oriental Honey Buzzard Settlement , Christmas Island
An Oriental Honey Buzzard has been seen several times over the last few days at Settlement on Christmas Island.

Semi-palmated Plover Hopetoun, Western Australia
John Darnell has forwarded a photo of a bird that looks like this species in breeding plumage forwarded to him by Marcus Singor who received it from someone called John. It was seen in the Hopetoun area of WA at 10.00 on 18 Feb and at 09.00 on 19 February in the SE corner of Culham Inlet from Hamersley Drive, 027780E 6242373N.

Mon 21 Feb Spotted Nightjar Bennett Brook Reserve (Whiteman Park -south), Western Australia
Good views of one bird, flushed twice on edge walking track by main swamp. White spots on chocolate-brown plumaged wings stood out well. (1).

Fri 11 Feb Malayan Night Heron, Cinnamon Bittern, Chinese Sparrowhawk Dolly Beach Rd and other sites, Christmas Island
During a short visit to Christmas Island 8-11 Feb the following rarities were seen: Malayan Night Heron - near Ross Hill Gardens on Dolly Beach Track, Cinnamon Bittern - at entrance to Casino, Yellow Bittern x2 at Casino and 1 at LB3, Chinese Sparrowhawk - Dump, Red Collared Dove - Dump, Watercock - 1 at entrance to Casino. Java Sparrow numbers seem to be in the decline with just 3-4 seen at the Parks Australia nursery.
