Also Australian Grebe, 2 adults with one chick on dam within park. Little Eagle, 1 light morph adult and 1 juvenile, both flying. One adult female Brown Goshawk. 1 Brown Falcon

Hooded Plover
Pt Roadnight (back beach)
Single hooded plover sighted this afternoon near its vulnerable nest that contained 2 eggs. Can understand why this species is on the wane when the nest was within 2 metres of the tide and in the open on a beach where dogs are allowed! Hope those eggs hatch!

Stubble Quail
Suburban Werribee
Much the same as the other Quail sighting from today. A single bird feeding on the ground with Sparrows and Turtle Doves in the front yard of my neighbours house. Has actually been there for a few days, I thought it may have been the extreme heat from the other day that might have grounded it but it has stayed on a little longer.

wtp Lake Borrie near bird hide
Following recent reports of sightings of Lewin's Rail we went to the reported sighting area. Spotted 4 birds 200 metres west of bird hide which on first sighting we believed to be Lewin's Rail until close examinations of photos showed they were in fact Buff Banded Rails.
Birds were sighted at 6.30pm.

Long-toed Stint, Pectoral Sandpiper, Brown Quail
Werribee Sewage Farm
Found 1 Long-toed Stint & 2 Pectoral Sandpipers independantly of earlier report in same area, eastern part of Western Lagoons at about 6PM. Got distant photos of Long-toed & better photos of Pectoral. 2 Grey Plovers, seem anchored to The Spit, one has an orange flag on it's leg. Very few waders in rest of area, only 4 Greenshanks in flooded paddock, no other waders there. Brown Quail repeatedly calling around Beach Rd gate. Seem fairly reliable there at moment, got distant photos in dull light of what appears to be a female on side of Beach Rd.
