Published sightings for the week ending 9 Jan 2011.

Wed 5 Jan Malayan Night Heron, Yellow Bittern, Red-collared Dove Various locations, Christmas Island, Christmas Island
5-6 Yellow Bitterns, a Malayan Night Heron, a Red-collared Dove and the recently reported Oriental Reed Warbler all seen on Christmas island today and yesterday

Tue 4 Jan Scarlet-chested Parrot Yumbarra Conservation Park, South Australia
A female flushed from the ground to a tree on the evening of the 4th after a 3 hour search, watched for about 20 minutes. Searched for over 8 hours on the 5th but no further sightings.

Sun 2 Jan Indian Roller, possible Montagu's Harrier, Pond Heron sp Horsburgh Island, Cocos-Keeling Islands
On Horsburgh Island Indian Roller seen well and many photographs, possible Montagu's Harrier also seen by several participants (distant photographs may assist with confirmation of ID). Both species would be new for Australia and its territories. Since then a Pond Heron species has been seen and photographed. Species not yet identified.

Regent Parrot Cadell Primary School Oval, South Australia
Large flock of 40+ Regent Parrots seen at 0800hrs. Difficult to count exact numbers due to activity of birds, possibly many more. Observed feeding on edges of overgrown cricket pitch (seeding thistles) and in flowering Hop bushes on S/E edge of oval. (40).
