Short-tailed Shearwater
Stoke's Hill Wharf, Darwin Harbour, Northern Territory
Early on last Friday evening near Stoke's Hill Wharf in Darwin Harbour a Short-tailed Shearwater was photographed both on the water and in flight (I and others have seen the shots), subsequently not seen since. Not a species one would normally expect to see in the Top End. The record will be written up and submitted to the journal, 'Northern Territory Naturalist'. [Ed note: interesting report. Nearest / most northerly Australian recorded is from Lockhart River in FNQ. Aside from that, the most northern record is from Townsville harbour. TimD.]
