Hooded Plover (Charadrius rubricollis) (1) Two adults spotted watching over two
young chicks hiding in the wheel ruts on the beach below the high tide mark

Date: Saturday, January 1, 2011
Location: Main North Road, Nailsworth
Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus funereus) (3) Three birds seen
flying from west, over Main North Road, towards east. An irregular sighting in
the suburbs on the Adelaide Plains. (Earlier in year [10th of May] a group of
no less than 40 were seen over Hallett Cove.)

Blue-billed Duck (Oxyura australis) (1) One adult male in Pond 11 (near
carpark), resting with black ducks.

Location: Brookfield Conservation Park
Elegant Parrot (Neophema elegans) (4) Two pairs found at opposite ends of the
park. First time I have found this species at Brookfield.
Black-eared Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx osculans) (1) 1 juvenile found a few kms past
the homestead.
Gilbert's Whistler (Pachycephala inornata) (3) All found by call then tracked
down.
White-winged Triller (Lalage tricolor) (2) Quiet year for the Trillers compared
to last year. Good to find some have still made their way down south!
Red-backed Kingfisher (Todiramphus pyrrhopygius) (2) A pair found not far from
the three habitats walk.
Crested Bellbird (Oreoica gutturalis) (1) Found not far inside the entrance.
Parrots seem to be enjoying Brookfield at the moment with numbers seen on this
trip up on many previous trips, Ringnecks where everywhere also Mulgas, as
mentioned Elegants and even some Red-rumps were showing well.
