Date: Tuesday, November 23, 2010
Location: In our garden, 3rd Ave, St Peters
Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus funereus) (1) Yellow-tailed
black-cockatoos have been seen flying high over our garden for several years,
but never been seen really close. The closest was in a tall gum in the school
grounds 150 metres away. This morning one was disturbed in a tall hakea outside
our back door, and it flew into our dead plum tree, and perched only 3 metres
above the ground long enough for me to fetch my camera. We haven't cut down the
dead tree as it is the staging post for many birds, and being without leaves,
they can always be seen.
