birds present in the vicinity feeding. Observed the birds closely for
over half an hour feeding on lerps (very extensive presence of lerps) on

extensive flowering although that could have been happening. Birds

Scarlet Honeyeater Darebin Parklands
New record for this site. 4 males and 2 females but could have been more
than this as they were moving a lot. Originally spotted in a dead tree
then they joined a large mixed feeding flock of silvereyes, superb
fairy-wrens, spotted pardalotes, yellow thornbills and brown thornbills
but mostly seemed to be squabbling with the birds in this group. (6).

Scarlet Honeyeater Lakewood Reserve Knoxfield
A single male feeding (on insects?) with New Holland Honeyeater, Red
Wattlebirds, a Grey Fantail and Brown Thornbills in acacias 3m beyond
the Watersedge Close entrance to the reserve; when I first saw it,
without binoculars, I thought Eastern Spinebill; then the red flash on
the throat suggested Mistetoebird, but bins revealed Scarlet Honeyeater.
I have lived in Knoxfield for 38 years and have never seen this species
nearer than Mallacoota!
