        Scaly-breasted Lorikeet (1) McLeod's Waterholes, Drysdale
Almost certainly a Scaly-Rainbow hybrid - entirely green-headed lorikeet
with shortish tail like a Scaly, but a brighter orange breast like a
Rainbow.

Wed 28 Apr Greylag Goose (One) Greaves Reserve, Keysborough
I have been observing this large bird, who is in excellent condition, on
a daily basis for the last 10 days. This section of the creek is
enclosed but can be viewed from the Eastlink trail. The creek has deep
water and plenty of feed on banks and under the surface. I have seen
Greylags before in Northern Scotland/Orkneys but always in large
numbers, never solitary. Moderators note: Pure forms of Greylag Geese
have been reported from a few locations in Birdata, and apparently a
flock exists on Phillip island. A potential future feral in natural
habitats?.
Alan and June Hawkins

        Rose Robin Fairfield Park, Fairfield
During this morning's Wednesday Wandering the MELBOCA group saw a female

7 birds seen on the vegetated "island" right on the point. This site,
the same location as where I recorded this species several years ago,
was not burnt in the Feb-Mar 2009 fires which burnt most of the
surrounding part of the Prom. Could be a tiny persistent colony miles
away from any others.

Swift Parrot, Australian Raven, Black-chinned Honeyeater You
Yangs
Flocks of Swift Parrot still present & stalked by heaps of birdwatchers!
Got some reasonable photos this time. Astounded by the call of an
Australian Raven and saw the bird giving it's distict quivering wing
display in flight. First Ive seen here, closest I've recorded in the
Brisbane Ranges. This species is basically absent from the Melbourne
area & Geelong. Heard Black-chinned Honeyeater & saw a couple of Tawny
Frogmouths & juvenile Restless Flycatcher. At the eastern entrance had a
juvenile Diamond Firetail & a pair of Scarlet Robins & Flame Robins.

Orange-bellied Parrot Western Treatment Plant, Werribee
As we followed Jen Spry and Joy Tansey's vehicle along the road to the
south of the 270S borrow pit, 2 small parrots flushed from beside the
road and seemed to land in the Flag Reed on the other side of the road.
We could not be certain they were OBP's but seconds later a single OBP
flew over our heads and landed in the same reeds. This was clearly an
OBP by colour and call. It is possible it was one of the first two, but
it is also possible it was a third bird. We could not then relocate any
of the birds. Other highlights included Spotless Crake, 2 adult
White-bellied Sea-Eagles, Musk Duck with 2 ducklings, 2 Black-tailed
Godwits, White-winged Black, Fairy & Common Terns.
John Barkla, Fred Smith, Alison Street and Elizabeth Lloyd

Three Orange-bellied Parrots again in melaleuca on the south side of the
borrow pits. A female flushed initially, but returned and perched
allowing good views. However, she was nervous and soon flew. Our
attention was then drawn to more alarm calls from the same shrub and two
more were observed including a brightly coloured male.
