I have often wondered why a person with a B.Sc. in maths, a Masters in
biomedical engineering, Bachelors in medicine and surgery ends up as a
media "personality". I was surprised when I found out he he actually
had all those sheepskins. I had always regarded him as rather a
autodactyl.

Personally I wouldn't read to much into Dr Karl's claims, he is not an
ornithologist, and he is the business of sounding like he knows what
he is

subject I
know well, he is usually wrong in some way. My friends who are
doctors say
the same about his claims on medicine, apparently (allegedly?)
sometimes he
has been dangerously wrong on medical subjects. I'm sure the guy is
smart,
but reading a few books doesn't make him an expert in every field, and
no
doubt the Internet is a source for much of his information, and that
is of
course notoriously unreliable.
