Most birds are protected in the United States as well, and it is illegal
to possess any part of one, including feathers, unless you have a permit
from the government. (There are exceptions for introduced species and
birds who have hunting seasons.)

feather rules I can admit it is a bit weird to send such a request again.
But remember it is only(?) in Australia that it is illegal to collect
feathers, even naturally moulted ones. Thats weird to me..........
