Chiggers

Hi all
I had not checked this account in a while.  Lawrie Conole just let me know
that my chiggers post in my newsletter stirred up quite a discussion. What
Penny says is true also. In Peru we got both sorts - jiggers (fleas which do
lay eggs) and chiggers (mites that bite). Both itch. I have found that
chiggers are more common in the forested areas and this is what we have most
problems with. The protection against both is similar and it dealt with in
the newsletter.
On the positve side, is that the response to the bites is less with time. I
hardly get sleepless nights from chiggers nowadays...so some sort of
immunity can be acquiered.
