David Kowalick has just sent me an email stating that Barbary Dove is
possibly now well established throughout greater Adelaide.
I find this really disturbing news and ask the question why has it been
allowed to happen. If it has happened under the noses of people while
seeking to get an extra Australian tick then all the more disturbing. Thus
far postings on birding-aus indicated that the birds were of small number
and confined to a small area across a couple of backyards, but if the real
story is of a species well on the way to establishing itself then what
happens next. I this is all true then I would suggest the local birding
community needs to present a combined appeal to the authorities to try and
save the situation before it is physically impossible to reverse.

These locations should be reported to the relevent authoraties especially if
they are breeding so they can be removed while they are still domestic
stupid and not street smart.
Cheers Jeff Davies.
Hi Jeff,
Agreed. I have already reported these to the relevant department. But it may
be a bit too late as the birds seem to be well established already
throughout the greater Adelaide metro area albeit thinly and these birds are
not tame either.
Cheers
