The Shooters Party and Fred Nile may be heading towards being threatened species in the next NSW elections. They have already managed to cheese off a lot of rural voters by blocking the Greens' bill to protect farmland from mining. See http://theland.farmonline.com.au/news/state/agribusiness-and-general/political/shooters-vote-under-fire/1537212.aspx .

I believe that the NSW Electoral Commission has mailed all the registered members of Rev Fred's CDP to see how many are still paid-up members, and the word around Macquarie Street is that the CDP looks like ending up being de-registered as a party, because they don't have enough members. The next NSW election will be very interesting and bloody. There is no better fun than watching pollies stab each other in the back, while hoisting themselves on their own petards.

Cheers,

Carl Clifford

A little bit of bluster from the shooters, I suspect. I presume that the
Shooters Party made a commitment to introduce this bill as part of their
campaign platform.

I can't see that it'll have much hope of getting off the ground. But then
again we didn't foresee duck hunting being allowed in Victoria in 2009.
